Italian Mid-Century Silver Plated Caviar Server

A classic vintage Italian silver plated and crystal caviar service, executed in a refined pedestal form and designed for formal entertaining.

This four-piece set features a silver plated pedestal bowl with fitted lid, designed to cradle an interior crystal insert for chilled service. The elegant domed lid with finial knob preserves temperature while adding sculptural presence to the table.

Made in Italy, the piece reflects the tradition of European hospitality objects restrained in ornamentation yet rich in material contrast. The polished silver plate exterior provides a mirror-like finish, while the crystal liner offers clarity and brilliance.

Ideal for caviar service over crushed ice, it also adapts beautifully for:

• Chilled dips
• Olives or antipasti
• Condiments
• Bonbons or chocolate almonds

An enduring example of vintage Italian serveware timeless, functional, and unmistakably elegant.

Collectors Notes

Classic European caviar services remain one of the most versatile categories in collectible tableware. Originally intended for formal roe presentation, these pieces transition seamlessly into modern entertaining.

Italian-made silver plate from the late 20th century is particularly desirable for its weight and polish. The pedestal silhouette gives this example strong visual presence it anchors a table rather than disappearing into it.

It works beautifully:

• Centered on a linen-draped dining table
• Paired with mother-of-pearl spoons
• Styled on a bar cart
• Given as a sophisticated host or housewarming gift

A foundational hospitality object equal parts ritual and refinement.

It pairs naturally with our Silver collection, and makes a sophisticated Housewarming Gifts pick.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
