Sterling Silver & Glass Antique Salt Cellar by Hukin & Heath - c.1880
An exceptional antique sterling silver and reeded glass salt cellar by the celebrated English silversmiths Hukin & Heath, hallmarked London, 1886. Elegant in both form and execution, the piece features a finely hand-blown reeded glass bowl suspended within a graceful sterling silver cradle, resting atop a circular silver base.
Known for their refined Victorian silverwork and close association with the Aesthetic Movement, Hukin & Heath produced some of the finest tableware of the late 19th century. The contrast between the delicate ribbed glass and the polished sterling silver frame creates a timeless design that feels equally at home in a traditional or contemporary setting.
Presented in remarkably well-preserved condition, this rare antique salt cellar remains in great condition and retains its original hand-blown glass insert. While originally intended for table service, it serves beautifully today as a salt cellar, caviar service piece, condiment vessel, or decorative tabletop object.
A fine example of Victorian craftsmanship and one of the more distinctive forms produced by Hukin & Heath during the period.
