Found in Italy

A striking piece of Italian design from the 1970s, this Onde ice bucket was designed by Sergio Asti for Arnolfo di Cambio, its name taken from the wavelike ribbing that wraps the entire body of the piece. Cast in a rich purple crystal with a frosted, satin finish, the ribbed form catches light beautifully, giving the bucket genuine sculptural presence well beyond its practical use.

A polished silver plated steel rim and swing handle top the piece, the handle secured with a ball and socket fitting that allows it to fold flat when the bucket is set down.

Sergio Asti was one of the defining figures of Italian design in this period, known for pushing glass and plastic forms toward genuinely sculptural results, and the Onde line remains one of his most recognizable achievements. Arnolfo di Cambio's production quality shows clearly here, in the evenness of the color and the crispness of the ribbed detailing.

Measuring 6.3 x 6.3 x 4.3", this bucket brings real color and personality to a bar cart or entertaining setup, equally at home as a functional piece or displayed as a standout object of postwar Italian glass design.

Collectors Notes

Sergio Asti's Onde line is a genuine highlight of 1970s Italian glass design, and the color on this example is particularly striking. It fits naturally within our barware collection, and its sculptural presence also earns it a place among our home decor edit as well.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
