Saint Hilaire built this caviar service around a genuinely functional layout, pairing a lidded silver plate server with a matching underplate and its own serving spoon, all designed to work together at the table rather than as separate pieces. The underplate carries two shell shaped handles, giving it a graceful, symmetrical profile even before the lidded server is set into place.

The lid itself lifts by a beaded ring finial, and the beaded edge repeats around the rim of the underplate, tying the two pieces together visually. The whole set is built to keep caviar properly chilled and presented, with the lid holding in cold and the underplate designed to nest ice beneath the inner server.

This example is presented in its original box, a nice bonus for anyone who wants the full original presentation alongside the pieces themselves.

Made in France, this is a complete, ready to use caviar service from a respected French silversmith, well suited to entertaining or simply displayed as a set of well proportioned silver.
