Rene Berthet Omega Window Patinated Bronze Relief - c.1995

Found in United States

A striking small scale sculpture from French artist Rene Berthet, this patinated bronze and wood relief depicts a face split cleanly down the center, one half finished in a rich matte blue patina, the other left in the warm, reflective bronze the medium is known for. The contrast between the two treatments gives the piece a quietly dramatic quality, as though two different states of being were caught mid transformation within the same face.

Titled Omega Window, the piece is mounted on a wood backing that lifts it slightly from the wall, giving the relief genuine depth and shadow play depending on the light. The carved features, eyes, nose, and mouth, are rendered with real sensitivity despite the piece's compact scale, avoiding the more literal or decorative treatment that lesser relief sculpture often falls into.

Dating to circa 1995, the work is signed and numbered "Berthet 7/8" along the lower edge, with the title inscribed on the verso, confirming it as number seven from a limited edition of eight. Measuring 4.75 x 4.625", the artwork itself is compact enough to display in almost any setting, and should you wish to keep it framed, it will carry genuine presence as a piece of fine art.

A thoughtful and well documented piece of contemporary bronze sculpture, ideal for collectors of limited edition work or anyone drawn to figurative art with a modern sensibility.

Collectors Notes

Being numbered and titled on the verso gives this piece real documentation, something worth looking for whenever you're considering limited edition sculpture. It anchors our art collection nicely, and holds its own within our home decor edit as well.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
