A handsome vintage modernist bottle stopper pairing a natural cork base with a substantial rectangular metal finial. The design is deliberately minimal, relying on proportion and a small number of precisely incised linear details rather than ornament.
Fine dark lines travel across the top and wrap down the sides of the metal block, breaking up its otherwise monolithic form and giving the stopper an almost architectural quality. The contrast between the warm, utilitarian cork and cool metal is particularly effective, transforming a simple bar tool into a small piece of design.
These have enough presence that I would treat each as an individual collectible object. They are functional, of course, but they also look particularly good left visible on a bar or drinks tray alongside a favorite bottle or decanter. Their understated design also makes each one an unusually good host, housewarming or wine-lover gift.
