This example stands apart for its precise, blocky geometry: four rectangular blocks of amber toned lucite stand like small posts around a central chrome ring, each one set at its own position rather than joined into a single continuous form. Solid rectangular volumes meeting a circular void, the effect reads more like a small piece of architectural massing than a typical ashtray base.

The whole composition sits atop a substantial round base in clear lucite, thick enough to give the piece real weight and stability. Lift the central bowl by its small tab and it releases from its magnetic mount, a small mechanical surprise that rewards handling without ever feeling gimmicky, and makes the insert easy to remove for cleaning.

The interplay between the warm, honey toned amber blocks and the cool chrome ring is what gives this piece its particular character, a contrast in both material and temperature that reads differently depending on the light. Measuring approximately 6.5 x 6.5 x 2.95", it has a low, grounded profile that works equally well on a coffee table or a desk.

A confident, geometrically precise object for collectors already drawn to this category of vintage design, offering a genuinely different silhouette from the more typical pillar and panel versions.

Collectors Notes

The blocky cross shaped arms here give it a noticeably different presence than the pillar and panel versions already in our home decor collection, worth comparing side by side if you're building out a group. It also makes a fun housewarming gift for someone who already loves this category of design.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
