A sculptural Art Deco vase designed by Danish master Just Andersen (1884–1943), executed in his patented Disko metal alloy and identified as Model D18. Featuring a distinctive scalloped silhouette, elegant flared body, and graceful curled side handles, this vessel embodies the refined craftsmanship and modernist sensibility that made Andersen one of Denmark's most celebrated decorative artists.
Produced during the late 1920s to 1930s, the vase is cast in Andersen's proprietary Disko metal—a unique alloy of pewter, lead, and antimony named after Disko Bay in Greenland, where the designer spent part of his youth. The material's rich charcoal-gray patina and subtle luster give the piece remarkable depth and character.
Its architectural profile and organic detailing make it equally compelling as a planter, cachepot, wine cooler, or standalone decorative object. Today, Just Andersen's Disko metal works are increasingly sought after by collectors of Scandinavian design, Art Deco metalwork, and early twentieth-century decorative arts.
