This Hermes cigarette box is worked entirely in solid silver, its curved cylindrical body covered in a fine engine turned wave pattern that catches light differently from every angle. The lid carries the same wave texture as a background for the piece's central motif: a galloping horse rendered in warm gilt, its mane and tail caught mid stride.
The contrast between the cool, textured silver ground and the smooth gilt horse gives the piece real depth, and the equestrian subject fits naturally with Hermes's long standing connection to riding and horsemanship. The lid lifts cleanly to reveal a plain silver interior sized for cigarettes.
Dating to around 1960, the piece reflects a period when Hermes was producing a range of finely made silver desk and smoking accessories alongside its leather goods, often with this kind of equestrian detailing.
Made in France, this is a substantial, well made silver box, equally suited to actual use as a cigarette box or as a decorative object on a desk or side table for anyone drawn to Hermes silver or equestrian motifs.

Who Are You Buying From?
Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
