Hermes Nautical Boat Light Box

An exceptionally unusual and possibly unique vintage Hermès Paris box, fashioned from what appears to be a repurposed nautical or marine signal light. A fascinating example of Hermes transforming a utilitarian object into something collectible, the piece combines polished metal with deeply colored burgundy glass in a distinctly maritime form.

The cylindrical body is constructed around a substantial ribbed burgundy glass lens, framed at the top and bottom by polished silver-tone metal. A vertical metal brace runs along the rear, while the hinged semicircular lid lifts using what appears to be part of the light's original mechanical construction. The result retains the industrial character of its nautical source while functioning as an unexpected decorative box or vessel.

The underside is clearly stamped “HERMES PARIS,” confirming its association with the maison. The ribbed light and metal housing is a detail that further reinforces the object's utilitarian origins and gives it the character of a found industrial artifact rather than a conventional luxury accessory.
