Hermes Horse Head Catchall by Ravinet d'Enfert - France, c.1960
Found in United States
This Hermes catchall apart by Ravinet d'Enfert is an instant classic. Ravinet, one of the storied Parisian silversmithing houses that produced fine tableware and decorative silver for the great French luxury maisons throughout the twentieth century. Rather than a single Hermes stamp, the underside of this piece carries a double hallmark, the Hermes Paris mark alongside Ravinet d'Enfert's own maker's punch on the site, a detail that gives serious collectors a clear line of authentication and a fuller picture of the craftsmanship behind the object.
The catchall itself is executed in polished silver plate, its shallow oval bowl kept deliberately simple so that the sculptural horse head handle, finely modeled with a lifelike expression, remains the clear focal point. It is a compact but confident expression of Hermes's equestrian roots, translated here through another house's hand.
Beyond its original intended use, we love this piece set out on a nightstand for rings and cufflinks removed before bed, on an entry table to corral keys, or simply left on a shelf as a small piece of sculpture in its own right. Its scale makes it easy to place almost anywhere it can be appreciated up close.
A documented collaboration piece rather than simply another horse head catchall.

Who Are You Buying From?
Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
