Found in France

A refined vintage French crystal paperweight featuring a beautifully modeled frosted leaf motif seemingly suspended within a substantial rectangular block of clear crystal. The botanical form rises in relief from the otherwise transparent composition, creating a striking interplay between clarity, texture and light.

Viewed from different angles, the flower shifts from softly diffused to sharply defined as light passes through the crystal surrounding it. The thickness of the block gives the piece satisfying visual and physical weight, while the frosted treatment lends the botanical subject an almost sculptural quality rather than simply appearing as surface decoration.

Small French crystal objects like this are particularly appealing because they sit somewhere between decorative art and functional desk accessory. It can serve its traditional purpose as a paperweight, but is equally compelling displayed atop a stack of books, placed on a desk or positioned upright where the floral relief can catch the light.

Collectors Notes

Paperweights are one of my favorite ways to introduce smaller collectible objects to a desk or stack of books. This one also works beautifully standing upright where the relief can catch the light.

It's a fitting addition to our Crystal collection.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
