A refined vintage French Art Deco compact by Corona Paris, dating to the early-to-mid 20th century and crafted with a richly figured tortoiseshell exterior framed in warm gilt metal.

The compact has a beautifully architectural form, with clipped corners, fine linear borders, and a cylindrical hinged detail across the top characteristic of the geometric vocabulary of the Art Deco period. The tortoiseshell displays wonderful variation in amber, cognac, and deep brown tones, giving the otherwise restrained design considerable depth.

Originally conceived as a ladies' compact, the interior powder fitting has been removed, allowing the piece to function today as a small decorative box or case for jewelry and keepsakes. Its diminutive proportions make it particularly appealing on a dressing table, desk, or bedside table.

Marked Corona Paris and Made in France. Presented in good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with its history.

Collectors Notes

Once its original powder fitting is removed, this becomes much more interesting as a decorative object. Use it as a petite jewelry or keepsake box for rings, cufflinks, collar stays, or other small treasures. Its scale also makes it particularly good layered among larger boxes and objects on a dressing table or desk.
