A striking example of Dine (Navajo) silverwork, this sand cast sterling silver cuff is built around an openwork, angular framework that gives the piece real sculptural weight on the wrist. At its center sits a single oval turquoise cabochon, its natural matrix visible within the stone, framed simply so the silver's texture and the turquoise's color do the visual work together.

Sand casting is a traditional technique in Southwestern silversmithing, where molten silver is poured into a carved sand mold, resulting in a slightly textured, organic surface that differs noticeably from more polished, fabricated jewelry. The open, geometric lines of this cuff show that technique off beautifully, with a confident asymmetry that feels handmade in the best sense.

Dating to the mid to late 20th century, the piece reflects a long tradition of Navajo silversmiths working with turquoise sourced from the American Southwest, each stone genuinely unique in its coloring and veining. Measuring 6 3/4" total inner circumference by 1 5/8", including a 1 3/8" gap, it sits comfortably on the wrist while still making a real statement.

A well made and genuinely collectible piece of Southwestern silver, ideal for collectors of Native American jewelry or anyone drawn to turquoise with real character.

Collectors Notes

Sand cast pieces like this carry a distinctive texture that fabricated silver simply can't replicate, worth handling in person if you get the chance. It fits naturally within our estate jewelry collection, and pairs nicely with pieces from our silver edit.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
