This Cartier double jam pot pairs cut crystal jars with sterling silver mounts, retailed by Cartier New York in the 1950s and marked Cartier and Sterling to the hardware. Each jar is cut in a fine diamond pattern that catches the light beautifully, housed side by side beneath a pair of domed sterling lids joined by a swing handle.
The design's mechanism is its real charm: gently tilting the handle to one side releases the corresponding lid, which springs open to reveal the jar beneath, while the other stays closed. It is a clever, tactile piece of tableware engineering typical of Cartier's mid-century silver department, built as much for everyday use as for display.
Standing 6.5 inches tall and 6 inches wide overall, with each crystal jar measuring 3 1/8 by 3 1/8 inches, the piece has real presence on a breakfast table or sideboard. The sterling lids show a naturally developed patina consistent with decades of age and use.
A double jam pot of this quality and condition, bearing both the Cartier name and its original American retail history, is a desirable find for collectors of mid-century Cartier silver, American retailed Cartier pieces, and fine crystal and silver tableware.
A striking addition to any breakfast table or sideboard, and a wonderful conversation piece for entertaining.

Who Are You Buying From?
Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
