An unusual vintage bronze vide poche with a bold geometric silhouette combining rounded and rectilinear forms. The composition feels almost architectural, with overlapping circular and squared sections unified by a series of stepped recessed borders that follow the perimeter of the piece.
The bronze has developed a beautifully uneven patina through age and handling, with areas of deep brown, black and muted gold giving the surface considerably more dimension than newly polished metal. The slight irregularities and oxidation are particularly appealing against the precision of the underlying geometry.
There is an almost Brutalist quality to the weight and simplicity of the object, yet its relatively compact scale keeps it versatile. Whether used for keys or jewelry or left empty as a small piece of tabletop sculpture, it is the kind of anonymous vintage design whose maker may be secondary to the strength of the object itself.
