A substantial vintage mid-century brass ashtray with a wonderfully architectural Art Deco silhouette. The form is built around a geometric central basin surrounded by a series of stepped borders, with squared corners and gently curved interruptions creating an almost architectural floor-plan effect when viewed from above.

Rather than relying on applied decoration, the design derives its character entirely from proportion, repetition and geometry. Multiple raised bands follow the unusual perimeter and give the piece a sense of depth, while decades of oxidation have softened the brass into a warm, mellow finish with darker areas of patina throughout.

Although originally intended as an ashtray, the form translates especially well into contemporary interiors as a vide poche or decorative catchall. It is substantial enough to hold its own among larger objects and has the sort of unusual geometry that makes even an everyday accessory feel considered and collectible.
