A large vintage Italian Galassia centerpiece by Brandani, dating to the 1980s. Formed in aluminum with a dark grey interior, the piece has an elongated, almost boat-like silhouette defined by dramatically sweeping sides and a rhythmic surface pattern that follows the contours of the vessel. The result is an object that feels simultaneously functional and highly sculptural.
The Galassia design is particularly successful in the way it uses a relatively simple material to create depth and movement. A repeating scalloped or feather-like treatment runs through the interior, becoming increasingly pronounced as it approaches the raised edges. Depending on the light and viewing angle, the surface shifts between matte grey and reflective metallic tones, emphasizing the fluidity of the form. Its streamlined profile and restrained palette give the piece a distinctly modern quality despite its 1980s origin.
At more than fourteen inches long, this is considerably larger than a traditional vide poche and has enough presence to function as a true centerpiece. Displayed empty, its exaggerated proportions allow it to read almost as a piece of sculpture. It could just as easily be incorporated into a dining table, console or large coffee table arrangement, where its unusual form provides a strong counterpoint to more traditional antiques and decorative objects. A collectible example of late-20th-century Italian design with both scale and presence.

Who Are You Buying From?
Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
