A sculptural vintage Italian Galassia catchall by Brandani, dating to the 1980s. Crafted from aluminum and finished in a softly luminous cream tone, the piece is defined by an elongated, gently asymmetrical silhouette that gives the compact vessel an unexpectedly architectural presence.
The interior features a subtle repeating surface treatment that follows the contours of the form, creating movement as light travels across the aluminum. Rather than relying on applied ornamentation, the Galassia design derives its visual interest from shape, texture and the unusual treatment of the metal itself. The resulting piece feels distinctly Italian in its ability to blur the line between an everyday household object and a small work of sculpture.
At approximately 7.5 inches long, this smaller Galassia form is particularly useful as a vide poche or catchall while remaining substantial enough to display as a decorative object. Its neutral cream finish also gives it unusual versatility, allowing it to sit comfortably alongside warmer woods and brass as well as chrome, silver and glass. A collectible example of late-20th-century Italian decorative design with an appealing combination of utility and sculptural form.

Who Are You Buying From?
Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
