A handsome vintage Art Deco rectangular box with a beautifully architectural silver-plated exterior and cedar-lined interior. The exterior is defined by a continuous series of narrow vertical ribs that travel across the lid and down the sides, creating a precise linear rhythm characteristic of the streamlined geometry associated with Art Deco and early modernist design.

Opening the hinged lid reveals a warm cedar interior, suggesting the box was originally intended for cigarettes or cigars. The contrast is particularly appealing: a cool, highly structured metallic exterior gives way to the warmth and grain of natural wood within. Its tall rectangular proportions also distinguish it from the more common low cigarette boxes of the period.

Today, the original function feels almost secondary to the quality of the object itself. It is a beautifully proportioned desk or decorative box with enough architectural presence to stand alone, while the cedar interior makes it particularly appealing for storing keepsakes.
