A sculptural Art Deco bronze box by Modern Metallkonst, produced in Scandinavia in the 1940s and defined by its streamlined, architectural form.

The design is anchored by a distinctive half-moon silhouette, softened by gently curved edges and a low, elongated profile. The lid sits seamlessly atop a ribbed base, creating a sense of rhythm and proportion that feels both structured and fluid hallmarks of Scandinavian modernism as it emerged from the Art Deco period.

The surface carries a beautifully developed patina, with warm bronze tones shifting between deep amber and golden highlights depending on the light. This natural variation adds depth and individuality, making each piece subtly unique.

Both functional and decorative, the box is ideal for storing small personal items cufflinks, matches, jewelry, or desk essentials while also serving as a quietly striking object within a curated interior.

Collectors Notes

Modern Metallkonst pieces are celebrated for their ability to bridge Art Deco geometry with emerging Scandinavian restraint. Objects like this reflect a transitional moment in design where ornament gave way to form, and materials were allowed to speak more directly.

The half-moon shape is particularly compelling, offering a softer interpretation of Deco symmetry while maintaining a strong visual presence. Today, these pieces are appreciated for their versatility and their ability to anchor a space without overwhelming it.

It's a fitting addition to our Home Decor collection, and a versatile Housewarming Gifts pick.

Who Are You Buying From?

Every object here has a journey before it ever reaches you. I've spent years seeking these pieces out, in back rooms of old ateliers, from families who've inherited more than they can keep, through dealers I've come to trust, in conversations with people who still work with their hands, because I've always believed the things we choose to live with should carry something true. What began as a private obsession became a devotion, one I now share with my wife and daughter, who remind me daily that the best collections are the ones built to be passed down, not simply owned. What you're holding isn't just an object. You're inheriting its story, and becoming part of its next chapter.
